History of S.T.S. Boats Ltd.

S.T.S. Boats was set up in February 2003, specialising in designing and constructing a whole range of superbly crafted boats, employing some of the country's best craftsmen. Their hard work and determination has paid off - they were nominated for the Liverpool Daily Post's New Business Of The Year 2005, and won it in June this year.

The company initially began with three employees, but within the last 12 months the business has has grown so much that it now employs 18 talented staff. They consist of three apprentices between the ages of 18 - 23, who were unemployed and on the New Deal scheme, plus two employees who were on the New Deal for Disabled.

The order books are rapidly filling up, with enquiries and orders coming in every week.

S.T.S. Boats has a long-term contract with White Bear Marina Chorley, part of the British Waterways Marinas, who have already purchased ten boats from us within the last year. New orders have already been placed by British Waterways, for whom we have already designed the classic White Bear class boat. We also have contracts with other prestigious Marinas around the country to provide them with specially designed boats.

We had a customer from as far a field as Australia, who was so impressed with his original order that he has recently enquired about purchasing another.

We have had a number of customers who are ordering their second and third boats from us. We recently built a boat for a couple who foster disabled adults. This was a unique boat as it had to have a lot more safetly features added to ensure the boat could be enjoyed whilst safety was paramount.

Looking ahead, S.T.S. Boats would like to expand into the EU market in the future, selling to the public and possibly holiday cruisers.

The canal in the area of Sefton, where S.T.S. is based, is in for a regeneration grant and they are consulting with the council and other authorities with the hope of being involved with the regeneration with the possibility of having a few boats on the canal for leisure trips and / or for hire.
